Nerd Thoughts

This might seem extremely random, but I watched the Rise of Gru Minion movie for the first time recently, which made me start to think about the Minions in particular. And the main thought I had boiled down to I love the Minions, but only when they’re in theirs or Gru’s movies. I want to compare it to seeing an animal that shouldn’t be there inside your house vs. seeing the same animal in its natural habitat. When it’s in your house you can have a range of emotions(most of them not good) but it’s completely different when you see it where it’s supposed to be. Any time I come across the Minions outside of watching the movies I get weirded out for some reason. But throw them up on the “big screen” I can’t get enough. When I’m not watching a Despicable Me or Minion movie I can’t help but think they’re cringy but then you turn on one of the movies and they always make me laugh.

Basically, I think the Minions are an enigma. They are good and bad, entertaining and cringy, and cute and weird. But above all, they are a good ass mascot. I will never deny the fact that Universal made a great decision of banking on the Minions.
