Spotify Wrapped Thoughts

Yup, I gotta do it too but mostly because it makes me think of so many things.

My first thoughts are on my Top Genres. I can only assume Hamilton counts as Hollywood but besides that, I have no clue how Hollywood is a genre. Also what the fuck is Otacore and Epicore?! I have never heard of those before. My next few thoughts are yup that makes sense except for Lion of Love, I know it comes up in my shuffle a lot but I could have sworn other songs played more than that.

The Lin-Manuel Miranda part alone makes me start to wonder how many decimal places out the % goes? But even more than that I can’t help but wonder if there is one person out there that has it say “You are the Top Listener” and if so how much do you have to be listening to a person or song to be the top listener?

My last thought is that I wonder how much it would change if I had Premium(which I don’t) because without a doubt I would have been listening to more songs if I didn’t have to be stingy with my skips. Because that’s the main reason I only really listened to my liked songs over and over because I knew I wouldn’t need to skip as much since I knew I liked them. I’m also curious if there would be more or less Hamilton since I would then be able to listen to the whole show in order without interruptions?

Basically so many questions and so little answers.

Orlando Trip

I just went on a trip to Universal and Epcot and decided to rank all the rides I went on. Starting from least favorite to the best ever! (they were all fun just some were more fun then others)

Soarin’ Around the World

It was a nice, relaxing, and cool ride. I just wish it was a little bit more immersive, it had the smells sure, but I would have liked it if there was more “wind’ at parts or even little spritzes of water at other parts. All in all 5 out of 10.

Spaceship Earth

It would have been a boring ride but I thought the animatronics were pretty cool. So, a 6 out of 10.

The Seas with Nemo and Friends

This was kind of the same as Spaceship Earth except it has that bonus that comes from being connected to Nemo. So a 6.5 out of 10.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure

It was a fun immersive ride I’m just not sure if the long line we waited in was worth it, 7 out of 10.

The Incredible Hulk Coaster

I’ve really enjoyed the Hulk ride in the past but I guess I forgot about the whiplash that knocks my head around so that’s not that good. But it also gets a point for being connected to Marvel so all in all a 7.5 out of 10.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

I would love to give this ride a perfect score but it tends to make me nauseous if I’m not prepared for it so I have to give it a 7.7 out of 10.

Revenge of the Mummy

A nice indoor roller coaster that doesn’t make me nauseous but some moments that kind of ruin the momentum. So an 8 out of 10.

VelociCoaster

An awesome roller coaster that’s nonstop thrills and the bonus points for not making me nauseous or hurting my head! 8.5 out of 10.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Same as the VelociCoaster but inside. For some reason I really like indoor coasters, the darkness just makes the ride that much better. So it gets a 9 out of 10.

Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

This ride is by far my favorite roller coaster of all time! I sat on the bike side and the whole time I leaned forward holding the handlebars and vroom vroomed by way to ecstasy. 10 out of 10! (if we didn’t have a whole park to do I would have done it again.)

Don’t Give up on the Dark Universe!

So, for some reason recently I started thinking about one of the greatest cinematic universes that never was. That’s right Universals’ Dark Universe. Reminder before I continue for those of you who never knew or forgot about it, the Dark Universe was going to be a cinematic universe starring classic monster movie monsters. I was extremely hyped for it, especially after Dracula Untold. First of all, I love vampire movies and Dracula Untold might be one of my favorites so I was super excited to see more of Luke Evans as Vlad. And as you might have guessed I was immensely disappointed when they scraped the plans.

Now, I understand that The Mummy was a failure (Tom Cruise’s not the perfection that was Brendan Fraser’s) but just because you stumble doesn’t mean you give up altogether. You know you got to get back on the horse. Try Try again. The third time’s the charm. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. And any other saying you can think of. Basically just because the one movie was pretty shit doesn’t mean you give up on the whole thing. Like just look at Marvel, The Incredible Hulk didn’t do too well but that didn’t stop them in their tracks did it? No, they ignored its existence and practically erased it from the cannon but they kept chugging along, and thus created what I would consider the best cinematic universe.

All of this is to say that I really really really really want Universal to bring back the Dark Universe. I would absolutely love to have an MCU-style movie series with Dracula, Wolfman, Mummy, Frankensteins Monster, and others fighting like the actual Devil or something like that. It would be amazing and if you disagree you’re crazy. So, once again just want to say “I wish, I wish with all my heart that Universal changes its mind and brings back the Dark Universe”.

To Be Proud or Not To Be Proud

A few months ago I received this email from Spotify and it made me think a lot. After reading the email my first thought was that I didn’t know whether I should be proud or feel called out. On one hand, I was like “Ha! I’m a bigger fan than other people!” while on the other I was like “Oh gosh I’m listening to Hamilton way too much!”. But then that actually made me start to think about the specifics of this email. How many other people got the same email? What separates an average listener from a top listener? Is there a top top listener, like is there one specific person in the world who listens to Hamilton the most?

Basically, I just started wondering what are the criteria that Spotify has for these types of things? Specifically how many more times a day do I have to listen to Hamilton than someone else to be on top. But my biggest question was how many other people got the email too? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands? Millions?!?!?! That’s where I wanted to feel proud because I wanted to be in the special club of a select few obsessed fans, and not a vague group of a million people ranging from people who listen to it casually to obsessed fans. I also started to wonder if there are other types of shows or bands that have the same type of fan-first offers? If so I would like to know so I could start a new listing obsession to get those sweet deals.

Harry Potter A Forbidden Forest Experience

I went to Harry Potter A Forbidden Forest Experience this weekend, which was amazing! I took way too many photos and videos so here are what I think are the best photos I took. I ended up going by myself, but it would have been even better with a group. I loved every little detail they had on the trail, especially the Nifflers! The next best part was the lights, sounds, and music all together it created a super magical ambiance. I couldn’t stop smiling to myself, this gets a 10 out of 10.

This was my favorite video I took!!!!

Storytime: Shadow of the Wolf(Sherwood’s Doom #1)

First things first this isn’t a review, I just felt the need to share my experience with this amazing book. For some background, Shadow of the Wolf is a dark supernatural take on the Robin Hood story, and as a massive fan of Robin Hood, I absolutely loved it.

So let’s set the scene this story started back in like 2015ish when I first read the book. I loved it and was even more excited about the fact that on the inside cover it says Shadow of the Wolf is 1st book in a planned trilogy. I love trilogies! Now, after I read it that first time I semi-forgot the future sequels because I got busy with college and such and didn’t read as much. Then 2 to 2 and a half years ago I got a hankering to reread the book(which I did of course) and then remembered there should be more! So, as any good reader, I look up online to see if I can get the 2nd book anywhere only to find out the only thing I that the internet knows is that it’s supposed to be called Winters Teeth.

Now you might be wondering what did you do next? Obviously, I tried to find the author(Tim Hall) on social media and do a bit of cyberstalking to see if they were mentioning how writing, editing, etc. was doing. If you’re smart you can guess what I’m about to say and that is that I could not for the life of me find the author on anything but Goodreads. It got to the point where I wouldn’t be surprised if I learned that Tim Hall was a pseudonym and the man on the book was some type of author stand in. After that failure, I did the most logical step I could think of. Sending an email to the publisher through the contact us link on their website asking if the rest of the trilogy is still going to be a thing. Twice I might add. Although I blame that failure on the fact that they were in a different time zone than me and really I never thought anything would actually come out of that. You might now be wondering what did you do next? If you guessed “tried tweeting the publisher” then you’d be correct! Congrats. And sadly once again no answer.

After all those failures of trying to find answers, I started to just assume that the author had writer’s block and was maybe writing a new book to clear their mind. And a few months later I try once again to see if there was any new info and lo and behold I find a post on Tim Hall’s Goodreads profile saying just that. He had writer’s block and his publisher suggested he try writing another book and that it worked and he was back to writing Winter’s Teeth. I bet you can imagine my joy and after that I kinda moved on expecting it to come out soonish, only for nothing to happen.

Now, I can’t remember if it was around half a year or a full year after that that I try to find that Goodreads post just to see if there’s been an update. And for the life of me, I could not find it again. I have no idea why I couldn’t find it but it got to the point where I was wondering if I dreamed it up. But then I want to say around this time last year a miracle happened. And no before you think it the sequel still doesn’t exist. That sad little miracle is that I found the post again(which was published in 2019 might I add)! So, at least I now know that my mind didn’t make it up.

Now, after all of this, you might be wondering what are you doing now? Nothing really, I just occasionally check Goodreads every couple of weeks to see if anything new has popped up. And of course, I’m writing this blog post in the wild hope that maybe someone at David Fickling Books or even Tim Hall himself sees it and can finally give me an answer of if the rest of Sherwood’s Doom is still in development.

That’s all I want to know truly, is it still happening. Because if so, I will wait till the end of time on the edge of my seat for this series as long as I know the plan is to still do it. But if it’s not happening anymore I would love to know so that I can move on and mourn the loss of a great series. Or at least create a satisfying head-cannon ending for myself.

Thirsty Thursday Review

2 things you need to know about me before I start this review. Number 1 I am obsessed with Baja Blast, the only soda I love more is Dr. Pepper. Basically, Dr. Pepper is my go-to but Baja Blast is my fancy special drink. Number 2 I’m not a big drinker but when I do drink it has to be some super colorful cocktail where you don’t even know there’s alcohol in it. So, with that in mind, you might understand how I was simultaneously excited and worried when I heard that Mountain Dew was making a hard Baja Blast.(I know there’s other flavors but who cares about those peasant flavors when you have the god flavor)

Mostly I was super duper excited while I waited impatiently for it to finally come to my state. But under that excitement was the worry that I wouldn’t like it, and I didn’t want to betray my glorious Baja Blast that way by not enjoying it. So, I didn’t wait long to hunt it down and try it. And… my worry was unwarranted. Now that’s not to say I absolutely loved it, it’s still a seltzer and I’m really not that big fan of seltzers, but it tasted enough like normal Baja Blast that I could still enjoy it.

My only big complaint is that the only cans I had access to are the massive 24oz cans and as much as I love Baja Blast I can’t drink 24 oz of it. So, besides its massive size and the fact that I only seem to love drinks that have a shit ton of sugar and other stuff in them I give the Hard Mountain Dew Baja Blast flavor a solid 7 out of 10. (would drink again if someone will share it with me)
