What’s them you ask? Well, it’s supernatural crime dramas of course. And no I don’t mean shows like Supernatural, I mean shows where a vampire/werewolf/medium/mind reader, etc. solves normal crimes (with an occasional supernatural crime thrown in there). I feel like in the early 2000’s there were a bunch of shows like this and I miss them soooo much. Recently I got in the mood of re-watching this type of show so I’ve just been going back and forth between this one Canadian show called The Listener(mind reader) and another show called Moonlight(vampire). Sure sometimes they can get a little cheesy(especially the vampire ones) but on the whole, I just can’t get enough of them. Especially this one Korean drama called Vampire Detective, I love it so much and would just kill to see them do more of it or for someone to make another show like it(either or is fine with me).
I really enjoy the crime drama genre, which is great with the abundance of that type of genre right now but we’re severely lacking in the supernatural crime drama genre. And I want a comeback for that subgenre! More than that, I neeeeeed a comeback, there are only so many times I can rewatch the same old shows over and over again. Plus I think with the combination of people being really into nostalgia right now and a Twilight resurgence on the internet it would be the perfect time to bring back this peak genre. So, I hope by putting this out into the world that the universe will grant my wish and bring this genre back in all it’s glory!
Since there’s no new Battle Bots episode tonight I decided I’ll fill that Battle Bots-sized hole in my heart with my official top 10 favorite bots.
If you’ve read any of my previous predictions then this one isn’t surprising. I just think it’s perfect in every way. Great defense, offense, and its got great style. Plus nothing can beat a dragon-headed blade! And of course, a very humble team is always a plus for me.
I really like flippers and most agree that Hydra is the best flipper around so far. I also think it has a pretty nice theme.
This might actually be a surprising one for some people but I really enjoy hammer bots and I love how fast Shatter is and I’m a pretty big sucker for omni-wheels. And I just can’t get enough of the iridescent pieces on it. (Style is very important to me as you might have guessed)
I love the speed, the craziness, and as also the color scheme! I do have to admit that just a few years ago I wasn’t that big of a fan of the Hypershock team but they’ve really grown on me recently.
It’s fast, great color scheme, and of course Matty Vasquez’s amazing driving! What more could you want?
Quantum’s really become one of my tops this year. It just looks so cool and I can’t stop myself from saying “chomp” every time it bites into anything.
This is probably very shocking to a lot but they have a specific place in my heart after they made that huge divot in the Battle Bots floor.
Kraken’s kind of like Quantum in the way that I love it when the bots look like they’re actually biting each other.
What can I say I love me a hammer saw bot!
Classy style and can pack a good punch, what more do you need.
Well, these are my top 10. I do have to say that depending on the day numbers 2-5 can sometimes switch but usually, they stay in that order.
Since the moment I learned about this set I wanted it sooooooooo bad, but obviously had a hard time convincing myself to buy it. Because as anyone knows Legos can be a tad pricey, but finally with a gift card that helped lower the price I decided to buy. So I just wanted to share my pics of it.
I didn’t take any progress pictures throughout the day since I was so focused on finishing it so here are some pics of the different areas.
First off I was so proud of myself that I was able to finish building it in 2 days. Second, oh my gosh my fingers hurt! The number of single squares was insane, and the number of leftover spares was even crazier. I know they’re important if you lose a piece, but if you don’t lose any then it’s just a bunch of annoying pieces. But anyway all I know is that I loved building this set!
Today I was randomly thinking about if I prefer binge-watching or weekly watching more. I definitely prefer weekly watching then bingeing. I think the only time binge-watching is fine is when it’s either a short season or the episodes are short. Anything outside of those parameters is much harder to binge, it’s not impossible just harder, especially for someone with a busy schedule. Obviously, I still binge when I can but I think that’s more due to the fact that I’m afraid of spoilers. That’s probably why I think weekly episodes are better because it is way easier to avoid spoilers for a single episode than for an entire season.
Another plus for weekly episode watching in my book is probably a con for others, but that is that it lasts longer. I get to have more time to obsess about the show, predict future events, and even more time to create head cannons. The only 2 benefits I can think of for binge-watching are that if you can watch all the episodes at once then you feel successful and that it can be fun doing a binge marathon with others. But besides that, there are way more benefits of weekly episode watching than binge watching and if Netflix decides to only do weekly episodes I would be a-okay.
The only con I can think of for weekly watching is that if you get behind by a week or two it sometimes gets hard to catch up. But that’s really the only con I can think of so I’m for weekly watching all the way!
You may think it’s the money you have to spend on everything like merch, cons, books, tickets, legos, collectibles, etc. but that’s not the worst part. The truly worst part is the waiting. Waiting for release dates(books and movies), waiting for casting, waiting for any smidgen of news just to know that other people besides yourself are still thinking about it too. That last one’s the worst because when you can’t find any news on one of your obsessions you start to get paranoid that you’re the only one that likes it so why in the world would they continue/do whatever it is, even though the one thing you can find is other people asking the same question. So, I decided to make a list of all the things I can think of right now that I am dying to know but there’s been no news so far. And by doing this hopefully it will put good vibes out into the universe and finally I’ll get the answers/info I’ve been craving.
The release date for Winter’s Teeth (Sherwood’s Doom #2) by Tim Hall- I did a whole blog post just about my journey of trying to find out more about this book but obviously still nothing. This one is probably the one I’m most desperate for new, I literally check Tim Hall’s Goodreads once every few weeks to see if there’s news.
The release date of the Red, White & Royal Blue movie. I’m just like damn how much post-production is there needed for a romance movie!
Set photos from Netflix’s live-action Avatar the Last Airbender. I flip-flop back and forth between being optimistic and pessimistic with this show and I just need to see everyone in costume so that I can truly figure out how high or low I should set my expectations.
Any type of news about the Assassin’s Creed show Netflix is supposed to make. It’s been years and I just need to know if doing that show is still a plan or did they scrap it.
Info on the next season of a couple of shows Warrior, 50m2 (think it got renewed but now I’m not sure), The Tourist to name a few.
Anything about a shit ton of webcomics from artists that I find on Insta who are planning on making a comic or are on hiatus.
There are probably more things I want to know but I can’t think of anymore right now.
So for Christmas, I got 3 different types of building kits so I thought I’d review all 3 and rank them.
I have to give the spot at the bottom to the UGears set. While I was happy with the end result and would possibly do another set like it the actual building was horrible. There were a few times I just wanted to smash it because I was getting super frustrated. All of that is definitely because of the material, not only was it hard to push it into its slot I also always felt like something was going to break. Which I did end up breaking one piece(luckily it was one of like 2 pieces that had a spare) because I thought I fucked something up because it wasn’t spinning. The one positive is that its directions were pretty understandable.
The second spot goes to this metal scorpion set from a company called Gonmoso(I think). I really liked this one because it is super unique, instead of the thin sheets of metal sets you can get everywhere this one is thick pieces of metal and you use tiny screws to put it together. Where the UGears set was annoyingly difficult this one was a fun type of difficult. The only problem this one had was that its directions weren’t the best. There were some parts where the pictures weren’t very clear, the order of the directions would have been better if the were switched, and there was one section were you had to infer that you use certain pieces instead of it just telling you. But if I was able to find another set like this I would 100% do another one.
And of course, the #1 spot goes to the Lego set! I don’t really need to explain why this one gets the top spot since if you know you know but for those who don’t here’s why. First, the material is perfect, it isn’t hard to put together and it’s also very easy to take apart. Second, the directions are perfect they’re extremely easy to understand and the pictures are very clear. So in my eyes, Lego sets are the GOAT of all building sets so obviously it’s the best one.
It’s Robot Fightin’ Time! So here are my predictions for tonight’s episode.
Witch Doctor vs. Ribbot
With these types of fights with two bots that are pretty equal, I always have to go for the bot with less vulnerable wheels so Witch Doctor.
Captain Shrederator vs. Quantum
I got to say Quantum will win this one if they can get a good grip.
Gruff vs. RIPperoni
I’m not sure about this one since I don’t know anything about Ripperoni but I think Gruff’s tried and ture durability will win this one.
Shatter! vs. Huge
On one hand, I want Shatter to win this one since I like it but on the other hand, I think it would be hard for them to beat Huge. But low to the ground bots have beaten Huge before so there is some hope.
Glitch vs. Riptide
I think Glitch’s low ground will get them the win in this fight.
Gigabyte vs. Free Shipping
Once again I think Free Shipping’s low ground will help them beat Gigabyte.
Minotaur vs. Tantrum
This is a tough one but I feel like Tantrum will win this one.
Over Christmas, I went on a vacation with some of my family to the UK. We went to Edinburgh, London, and we even went to Loch Ness but the true highlight for me was going to Richmond. I loved Edinburgh for all of the Harry Potter stuff but having the combination of both Ted Lasso and The Sandman filming locations practically 10 ft from each other was amazing.
I love being in filming locations because I can just picture the scenes going on in my head while walking around. Two things that definitely stuck in my head were the relief the pub wasn’t shying away from being the Ted Lasso pub and the Sandman bench. I was relieved because I was afraid that I was going to be that annoying tourist they wanted to ignore but instead it seemed that they were proud of being the pub. I also noticed that they definitely moved the bench for filming the bench scene because we couldn’t get the perfect angle but it was close enough for me.
