I watched the first episode of two different animes yesterday, and because I’m impatient, I wanted to share the thoughts I had already.
Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective(or Forbidden Deductions)

I came across the trailer for this a while ago and have been eagerly waiting for it, so I watched it immediately when I saw it was out. I can already tell I’m going to like this show since I’m obsessed with any Sherlock-like character, but I do have one issue. I’m a little unsure/disappointed that Ron essentially has a superpower. From the teaser, I got the idea in my head that his issue was that he just went crazy from being kidnapped/tortured/family being murdered. I don’t know if we’ll eventually learn that happened too, but right now it’s just looking like he has a bad power in a world that doesn’t have powers. Now, if it turns out other people in this world have powers too I will be perfectly fine with this power thing, but if he’s the only one that will just be weird to me.
Berserk of Gluttony

I’ve gotten pretty tired lately of the whole of fantasy land with DnD-like skills and leveling up tropes in anime so it takes something special for me to want to watch an anime with that. Luckily for this show “something special” can be something as simple as a main character with a cool-ass aesthetic. And I find a black, red, white, and grey aesthetic to die for! But I am disappointed that he doesn’t actually have to eat people/monsters to get the power. The description got me excited for a more gory/gruesome anime where you feel semi-conflicted for rooting for a cannibal. So I’m a little sad that he only has to kill them, but I am hopeful that I will get that more mature/violent stuff in other ways.
Welp those are my thoughts and let’s see where these shows go.
