Haunted “Houses”: Thoughts Part 2

Since I went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time I wanted to semi-compare it to the other Halloween attractions I’ve been to this month. First things first I don’t think this needs to be said but I will anyway for the record, obviously, the quality of the costumes/house was way above the others I went to. Which isn’t surprising at all considering it’s done by a media empire. Now besides that, my first honest thought was how the internet/Instagram reels gave me a false sense of dread. Everything I was seeing online made it seem like we would be lucky to get through even one line, but we were able to get through 3 houses and check out the Death Eaters at Hogwarts perfectly fine. We probably could have done more if we didn’t have to go to the airport early the next morning. Basically, all of this is to say the lines weren’t as bad as the reels were making out to be.

One thing that I was surprised about was that I actually liked Kings Dominions scare zones better than Universals. Sure, the one scare zone we went through in Universal had plenty of scare actors, but the actual zone was kind of boring. At Kings Dominion, the zones had themes and big things for the actors to hide behind, but Universal only had the actors. So I thought Universals scare zone could use a little more oomph.

But after going to what basically amounts to three different levels of scare attractions I would say they are all fun and have their place!
