PJO Thoughts

With the announcement that filming has wrapped on the PJO series, I wanted to share some thoughts I had(mostly thoughts I had due to comments on the internet). Firstly of course is all the hubbub about the hair colors and I do have to admit that I was pretty bummed at first when I heard that both Walker and Leah weren’t dyeing their hair. I think that mostly came from the fact that I myself dye my hair any random color on a whim so I automatically had the thought “it’s just dyeing your hair that’s not a big deal”. But as time passed I realized that the characters’ hair color has literally zero effect on the story. And I think because of this series specifically, I’ve started to really take the “it doesn’t matter what they look like as long as they embody the character right” to heart. As I’ve seen other people say, just because they look like the character doesn’t mean they’d be a good fit.

Another thought I had is due to the fact that I keep seeing people bitch about how Disney is going to Disneyfy the series. And my first thought on that is, have people forgotten who published the books in the first place? Because when I look at the bottom of the spine of my copies I see this little bit of writing that says Disney Hyperion. Now I’m no expert in publishing companies and subsidiaries and all the weird legal lingo stuff but when I see Disney clear as day on a book I think “oh this is connected to Disney so clearly it won’t go against the image of Disney”. So why would they need to “Disneyfy” something that could already be considered Disney in the first place?

My only fear I had for this show was that it was going to be like the Artemis Fowl movie which completely changed the plot and premise of the books. But that fear was completely squashed when I heard how involved Rick Riordan is in the show, so for all the haters out there just chill down already, if it’s good enough for Rick then it’s good enough for me.

Hogwarts Lego Set

Since the moment I learned about this set I wanted it sooooooooo bad, but obviously had a hard time convincing myself to buy it. Because as anyone knows Legos can be a tad pricey, but finally with a gift card that helped lower the price I decided to buy. So I just wanted to share my pics of it.

Day 1

Day 2

I didn’t take any progress pictures throughout the day since I was so focused on finishing it so here are some pics of the different areas.

Complete!!!!!!

First off I was so proud of myself that I was able to finish building it in 2 days. Second, oh my gosh my fingers hurt! The number of single squares was insane, and the number of leftover spares was even crazier. I know they’re important if you lose a piece, but if you don’t lose any then it’s just a bunch of annoying pieces. But anyway all I know is that I loved building this set!

Bingeing Vs. Weekly Watching

Today I was randomly thinking about if I prefer binge-watching or weekly watching more. I definitely prefer weekly watching then bingeing. I think the only time binge-watching is fine is when it’s either a short season or the episodes are short. Anything outside of those parameters is much harder to binge, it’s not impossible just harder, especially for someone with a busy schedule. Obviously, I still binge when I can but I think that’s more due to the fact that I’m afraid of spoilers. That’s probably why I think weekly episodes are better because it is way easier to avoid spoilers for a single episode than for an entire season.

Another plus for weekly episode watching in my book is probably a con for others, but that is that it lasts longer. I get to have more time to obsess about the show, predict future events, and even more time to create head cannons. The only 2 benefits I can think of for binge-watching are that if you can watch all the episodes at once then you feel successful and that it can be fun doing a binge marathon with others. But besides that, there are way more benefits of weekly episode watching than binge watching and if Netflix decides to only do weekly episodes I would be a-okay.

The only con I can think of for weekly watching is that if you get behind by a week or two it sometimes gets hard to catch up. But that’s really the only con I can think of so I’m for weekly watching all the way!

BattleBots S07 E05: Predictions

I haven’t been doing too well this season so let’s hope I get better as time goes on.

Minotaur vs. Free Shipping

Definitely have to go with Minotaur for this one plain and simple.

Ribbot vs. Claw Viper

I’m feeling Ribbot for this fight for some reason.

Sawblaze vs. Lock-Jaw

Obviously got to go with my ride-or-die Sawblaze!

Huge vs. Blip

I originally wanted to say Huge right off the bat but for some reason, I feel like Blip will win.

Fusion vs. Witch Doctor

Fusion has been doing better this season but I still have to go with Witch Doctor for this one.

Double Tap vs. Doomba

This seems like it’s going to be a very interesting fight but I’ve got to go with Double Tap since Doomba confuses me.

Riptide vs. Madcatter

I’m fine with either bot winning but I feel like Madcatter will get the win.

Let’s hope I have guessed right this week but if the only fight I get correct is Sawblaze’s fight then I’ll be a happy camper.

Wednesday Review

I finally got around to finishing up Wednesday so I thought there’s no better time to post a review than on Wednesday. This might be an unpopular opinion but all around I thought it was a good show but not a great one. While Jenna Ortega was amazing as Wednesday for some reason, the show just didn’t get its hooks into me like other shows have. When other shows that I truly loved finished a season I would wait with bated breath to hear if it was renewed or not but with Wednesday I honestly would have been fine either way. It wasn’t bad but there were just one too many things that I had a problem with for me to be all in.

The biggest problem was the strained relationship between Wednesday and Morticia. Now, I’m no expert on the Addams family but from everything I know about them it just feels wrong that there’d be any tension between them at all. Another less serious problem I had was that it only became clear halfway through the season that everyone outside of the school knew about the supernatural and that outcast was the show’s name for supernaturals instead of a description. I don’t know if I just missed it but it took me way too long to realize that the normies actually knew about the supernatural and that created too much confusion for me. I also got kind of annoyed that the other characters seemed to flip-flop between not understanding Wednesday and understanding her. One moment they would act like they understood the way she acted then the next they would be mad at her for something she did. I just found the inconsistency a little annoying.

So the problems I have with the show combined with the good parts make me give the show a 6 out of 10.

You People Review

This was a great rom-com plain and simple so I’ll keep this review short and sweet. I was laughing at every joke and cringing from secondhand embarrassment from every awkward moment and it was fantastic. While the comedy was great the romance half of this movie was even more so. There’s not much that can beat the classic “it’s what’s inside that counts” and You People excelled at that. And I loved Jonah Hill and Lauren London as the main characters, they both were perfect in their roles. All of the different parts came together to create a super fun movie to watch that I’d give a 7 out of 10.

Lockwood & Co. Review

I binged this show in one day and I fucking loved it! Everything about this show was awesome the premise, the action, and especially the characters. And even though I’ve never read it I’ve seen others saying it’s a great adaptation which as anyone knows is a huge plus. In this review, I wanted to talk about the 2 things I loved the most in this show.

First off is the whole premise of the show, a ghost-hunting show where the whole world knows about ghosts. In most supernatural shows like this usually, the majority of society doesn’t believe which obviously makes life harder for the main characters. But Lockwood & Co. flips that scenario on its head and I found that extremely entertaining. For once the characters can do their job and not have to make bullshit excuses for what they’re doing which is so refreshing. On a side note, I just have to mention how much I love them using rapiers to fight ghosts, especially as a huge fan of blades who has started collecting them too.

The other part of the show that I was completely in love with was the characters. More specifically Lockwood himself and even more specifically than that was how they dealt with his death wish. I was so emotional every time it was clear he didn’t want to be alive and even more so when he finally starts to realize life is worth living with the help of his new family. The whole situation was just so heart-rending and made me feel so much for him.

I just love this show so much that I give it a 10 out of 10 and am extremely hoping it gets a second season(I need to know what’s behind that door!) but I’m also preparing myself for the worst.

Teen Wolf The Movie Review

This is going to be a short review to try and avoid too many spoilers but I will probably mention some just to warn you. I had a lot of fun watching this movie, it felt like classic Teen Wolf which brought out all the nostalgia feels. Before I talk about what I loved about the movie I’m going to get the bad stuff out of the way first. Obviously, Stiles isn’t in it, even though we knew that was going to happen I still hoped that they were lying but hey at least he wasn’t dead. I also felt like everything was very rushed, everything happened so fast and a lot was skimmed over. I would have loved it if we got more time before the shit hit the fan to see how everyone was living and more specifically how they got where they were. It would have been nice to get a little explanation on how Liam met Hikari. There were also some cheesy moments but in hindsight that’s classic Teen Wolf so I actually love those parts.

But everything that could be considered “bad” in this movie was overshadowed by my pure joy at having Scallison back!!!! Of all my ships in all my fandoms, Scallison is my all-time favorite and nothing makes me happier than seeing my ships sail. I’m just so so so so happy that baby boy Scott finally gets to be happy with the one he loves. Oh yeah, I almost forgot I also loved seeing Scott being classic Scott, you know what I mean, saving the day with the power of friendship(or should I say pack).

I know this movie isn’t perfect but it’s a super fun Teen Wolf movie that I’m very happy it exists and I would give it a solid 7 out of 10.

BattleBots S07 E04: Predictions

Last week was another bad prediction week for me but Hydra won so that’s good enough for me.

Monsoon vs. Black Dragon

I know that Black Dragon is pretty good but for some reason I want Monsoon to win this one.

Malice vs. Emulsifier

I want to see Emulsifier win this one.

Starchild vs. Overhaul

I am very confused about Starchild but I don’t think Overhaul can really grapple Starchild so I think Starchild will win.

Gruff vs. Quantum

I know Gruff is very durable but I want to see Quantum win this fight with a nice bite.

Kraken vs. Beta

Usually, I root for the hammer bot in a fight like this but I’m very intrigued by Kraken’s new revamp so I’m going for Kraken in this fight.

Horizon vs. Shreddit Bro

I feel like Shreddit Bro is the safe bet for this fight because it’s a simple drum spinner but for some unknown reason I really like Horizon’s design so I’m rooting for Horizon.

Whiplash vs. Hypershock

Oh gosh, I hate when some of my favs fight because I never know who to pick. But I’ve got to go with Whiplash with this one, though I won’t be too disappointed if Hypershock wins.
