Nerd Thoughts

Like many others, I want to share my thoughts on the ATLA first-look photos. These photos ruined all the work I put into keeping my excitement for this show limited. That’s not saying I’m diving head first already, I’m trying to keep my optimism in check till I see an actual trailer. Once I see a trailer that either shows us that the core characteristics of the different characters are accurate to the cartoon or they’ve fundamentally changed them then I’ll give the show my full support or feel pissed that I was ever excited. But for now the first look photos have made me happy.

First off I love Aangs tattoo, the one thing I liked from the movie that will not be named was how they changed his arrow tattoo. So, seeing how they almost combined the classic solid blue tat with the pattered one is super awesome. Now the other thought I had was how people are complaining that the costumes look like cosplay/don’t look lived-in. I can kind of understand that but I honestly think they just look so pristine because they are photos and not a video. I definitely think that the outfits will look more natural once things are moving. But I also can’t help but think that even if they do look untouched in the show why should that matter since in the cartoon the clothes always look immaculate except for very specific moments.

Basically, these photos just confirm to me that there is no way it’s going to be worse than the movie. I truly believe that the people creating the show aren’t stupid and have paid attention to what we hated about the movie. I mean they’ve already fixed the fact that it’s a show and not a movie and the casting. And I’m just assuming they aren’t dumbasses and are pronouncing the names correctly and considering how long it’s taking I’m also assuming the bending is going to be way better. So, for me the only way they can fuck it up is if they mess up the characters personalities. Frankly I am really rooting for this show to be good so I will probably be fine if they change up some character background stuff or minor plot moments.

Whelp those are just some of my thoughts about the Avatar The Last Airbender First Look photos and I am eagerly waiting for more info.
