The House of Fire (Ilamantium Saga Book 1)

This book was a classic coming-of-age fantasy and I really enjoyed reading it. For me, the best part was that it was a quick fun easy read. I was always entertained and never felt like I was slogging my way through. Basically, it was a really good book but at the same time what made it good also unfortunately makes it not great. By that, I mean because it was a classic magic coming-of-age story; it wasn’t that unique. Sure there were some unique details but all in all, it was a lot like other books I’ve read. Now, by no means does that mean it’s a bad book it just means that you shouldn’t expect some insane shocking twist like you’ve never seen before. Which, as many readers know, is just as good as a mind-boggling book sometimes; you just want a simple book to read.

While all of that might have sounded like a criticism the only real criticism I have is that it could have had maybe a once-over for editing. There were just a couple of moments where the writing was off. But all in all, I would give this book a 7 out of 10 and I will definitely be reading the second one eventually.
