If Blue Beetle is any indication of what the new DCU will be like, then I just might be optimistic about its future. I loved watching this movie. It was the perfect combination of cheesy/cliché and seriousness. Whenever a movie can make me literally laugh out loud and then cry 30 minutes later, I know it’s good. I had so much fun watching, which is something I haven’t had at a DC movie in a while.

But what was truly my favorite part of Blue Beetle was Jaime’s family knowing everything. We’ve seen a million and one superheroes who’ve had to hide everything from their loved ones, so it was a great big breath of fresh air having a scenario where the family knows about the powers. It made something that’s usually serious and stressful, amusing and silly which was super hilarious.

I don’t have much more to say about this movie besides the fact that I’m giving it a 9 out of 10 and that everyone should watch it.
