Jack Hunter Film Series Review

I also watched these movies in my recent Prime deep dive, but the confusing/funny thing is that on Prime, it looks like it is a mini-series and not three different movies, so that was a shocker at the end. Now to the actual review part, I was reasonably pleased with these movies. They were classic archeology/treasure hunter movies, so they make for a pretty fun watch.

Now, while watching these movies was a nice way to spend part of a lazy Saturday, I did have two very minor issues. The first one is that I wished they had made a joke or something about the fact that Jack’s style was clearly based on Indiana Jones. I think it would have made the only thing feel less like an Indiana Jones knock-off if there was a conversation like, “You know you look like… Yes, I know. Why do you think I became a treasure hunter in the first place?”. I think if that happened, it would have made it seem like they were honoring/acknowledging the Indiana Jones movies instead of having the feel of being a copycat. Another thing I wished they did differently is that they played into Jack being a treasure hunter/thief instead of a professor more than they did. It would have allowed for more complex moments and scenes. Plus, that would have separated it even more from Indiana Jones if Jack was more morally gray.

So, all in all, these movies were good, just a tad too much like another archeology series, if you know what I mean, so I would have to give them a collective 6.5 out of 10.
