Before I start, I feel like I have to say that I’m not even sure if I’ve seen the original 2003 movie fully, and it’s been a very long time since I’ve ridden the ride, so I can’t really compare this movie to anything. With that being said, let’s start this review. So, at the very beginning, I was happily shocked since it seemed that it was going to be actually spooky. Not super scary(obviously), but definitely not a silly scary. But then it quickly switched to a more classic kids “scary” movie. While this wasn’t surprising, I was still a little disappointed that it wasn’t a tad more mature. I was looking forward/hoping it was going to be that perfect combination of spooky and silly, which would make it perfect for adults and kids, but sadly it definitely leaned more toward kids.
Now, while it wasn’t scary enough for me to fawn over it, I did still enjoy it. It was overall fun to watch with a few moments that got more serious. And those serious moments definitely made all the difference for me. But my favorite part of this movie was LaKeith Stanfield, he was amazing in his role! So, when I add everything up I would have to give this movie a 6 out of 10.
