Wish Review

I loved this movie enough that I’ve already seen it twice in theaters, which is impressive because I rarely see movies twice, let alone in one week. That alone should tell you that this is a great movie, but I guess I should talk about specifics. Okay, so first, I actually love the animation. I know a bunch of people were shitting on the animation when they saw the first trailer, but I had faith, and that faith was rewarded. It was so unique, but at the same time, it looked like the perfect combination of Disney’s old style and new. That blending, but even more so the nod to the old, was what made this movie so great! While this movie was great for little kids(my niece and nephew loved it), it was an amazing experience for long-time adult fans. Spotting every little Easter egg and nod to previous movies was super fun. But the truly best part wasn’t the more obvious nods, it was that there were so many parts that had the vibe of the classics. For me, just the city of Rosas was amazing because it felt like the perfect blend of Aladdin, Tangled, and even Hercules just to name a few. There were also many moments when I got reminded of other movies, even if it wasn’t an outright Easter egg.

I also can’t forget the music, Ariana DeBose and even Chris Pine were excellent. I am 100% adding Knowing What I Know Now to every hype playlist I have! All of the songs were great, but that one got me so hyped up. Out of everything I loved about this movie, there is only one bad thing I can say, and it has everything to do with the burnt tapestry. Sure, they kind of explained it, but it seemed so singled out that I was expecting there to be some type of flashback, so when nothing happened it felt like an unexplained loose end. So, I’m going to give Wish a 9.5 out of 10.
