Johnny Z Review

This is another movie for the random movie I watched on Prime and you might be wondering why this one? I decided to watch it mainly because I thought the main poster looked cool, and I liked the look of the Johnny Z character. But I wasn’t too confident it would be any good, so I hoped it would be one of those so bad it’s good scenarios. Well, probably to no surprise to anyone it was not good, not at all. There was a lot wrong so I’ll just mention the two worst ones.

First, the movie did a terrible job introducing the viewers to the world and giving background. I had no clue till halfway through the movie that the zombie problem was practically handled(for the most part). That’s 100% something you have to establish at the very beginning! I also wish I got to learn a lot more about the different characters, particularly Johnny, who you know absolutely nothing about besides the fact he’s half zombie. The next big issue was the martial arts. It was very clear that martial arts was a big part of this movie, but sadly, anything that wasn’t a “training” sequence looked so fake. To have good fight choreography it has to not look choreographed. But as you might guess where I’m going with this, the fighting in this movie looked so staged, so that really takes you out of the movie.

I was just disappointed because the concept of a zombie apocalypse story where a company has the ability to completely cure and stop the apocalypse, but they don’t because of money and control is very compelling. So huge missed opportunity there. Because of all this, I have to give it a 3 out of 10.
