A Court of Wing and Ruin Review

Like I mentioned in my ACOMAF review I started this one immediately after so there are only a few specific thoughts I want to share about this one in particular. The first thought was that this was the perfect book to follow up ACOMAF. While the previous book was super emotional and all about healing physically and emotionally, Wing and Ruin was all about badassery. In the last book, we saw the start of Feyre’s awesomeness, but this one truly shows off how badass Feyre can be. I also feel like it’s the book that solidifies Feyre as an equal to Rhys. That equality in both power and importance is essential for a fantasy book because without it you get a power imbalance that almost treats one character as a prop for the other.

It’s weird to say but another thought I had was that I actually wish there were more court-on-court politics. Forget real-life politics I want fantasy politics where super-powerful character can intimidate the piece of shit character with their vibe alone. I also kind of wanted the Inner Circle to have to go to a ball. With those the book would have had everything for me so without it, I would give this one a 9 out of 10.
