The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping Review

This isn’t my usual docuseries cup of tea(cult shows), but it’s close enough so I had to watch it. I knew a decent amount about the troubled teen industry before watching this show, so it expanded on that knowledge. The most interesting part of this show was that they were able to get all of the files from the building. Being able to show the paper trail really added credibility to the doc.

Now, while the show was super credible and interesting to watch, there was one positive and negative detail. That detail is the narrator/creator being a victim too. Since the narrator was also a victim of Ivy Ridge, you get to see firsthand the damage places like Ivy Ridge do. But the bad part about that is that the vibe can very quickly turn from a doc trying to inform and prevent to a doc made in vengeance. Not that Ivy Ridge and places like it don’t deserve that, but it can sometimes take away a bit of the credibility of the show. So, all in all, I would give this docuseries a 6.5 out of 10.
