Hand of Mars (Starship’s Mage Book 2) Review

I was a little worried starting this one since it has been a long time since I read the last one, but luckily it was like riding a bike. I may have forgotten some things but I remembered very quickly. This book has one of my favorite moments in books. You know the moment where the super powerful main character who doesn’t think they’re hot shit and not worthy of their fancy title and the power that comes along with it gets a pep talk from another important character and then they embrace their awesomeness? Yeah, I love those moments. One thing that surprised me was how much I actually enjoyed reading about all the technological stuff and the politics. Boo real politics, give me space politics!

While I loved this book, I’m torn on the fact that this one skips the 3 years of what is essentially the training montage. On the one hand, I like it since we can get straight into the nitty gritty, but on the other hand, I wouldn’t have minded going through those years. So, I’m not sure about that part, but I still love this book anyway and am going to give this book a 9 out of 10.
