I’ve been making it a habit to watch almost all music biopics, so this was one of those movies I was interested in seeing but not super excited about since all I really knew about Amy was the song Rehab. After watching it I was pleasantly surprised. I really only judge music biopics by one thing. That is if the movie has the right balance of focus on the artists’ life and the music. Some focus too much on either one and then I’m left dissatisfied, but luckily Back to Black didn’t have that issue. One thing that I especially liked was the special attention to some of her tattoos. It really helped show how tattoos can be extremely important to someone.
While the movie was genuinely interesting, I do wish there was a tad bit more about her childhood. That would round out the movie perfectly. That being said, I would still give the film a 7 out of 10.
