I have never had such a weight lift off my shoulders than that of finishing this series. Sure, I loved and loved/hated almost every book and moment, but it was such a huge commitment that I feel so relieved and accomplished after finishing the series. Now, about this book specifically, I would say it’s my second favorite right behind my boy Chaol’s book. It was so hectic and stressful(in an entertaining way) that when I got to reading I could barely put it down. The book was also successful in making me cry quite a few times, and as I’ve said before that is a sign of a great book.
Despite loving this book I do have two complaints. The first is one of those complaints that I understand why they did it but it still annoys me anyways. It’s the fact that there were no dates included to allow us to be able to piece together the timeline more easily. I know that the stress of not knowing when things were happening in relation to other events was the point, but it still annoyed me. My other complaint is the ending. It wasn’t bad, but I think if you’re going to have a happy ending have a HAPPY ENDING. That being said I was hoping for something along the lines of it being 15 years later and all the characters are at a fancy ball with their spouses and they all have kids running around. More specifically I was hoping Chaol’s kid would be a boy and Aelin would have a girl just a few years younger and there would be a cute awkward teen moment where Chaols kid asked Aelins kid to dance. It would have been sooooo cute!!! So, I can understand why I was disappointed in an ending that was essentially just saying everything getting better. But despite all that, I would still give this book a 10 out of 10.
