Kaiju No. 8 Review

When I’m scrolling through the simulcast section on Crunchyroll for a new anime to watch, if the photo and the little blurb aren’t immediately interesting, I’ll skip it. Unfortunately, Kaiju No. 8 was one of those shows, the character design on the photo didn’t interest me and the hover-over description only said when the show was airing so I quickly moved that one to the back of my mind. It wasn’t until I came across a clip from the show on Facebook that I decided to give it a try. After one episode I was already regretting not starting it sooner. I loved this show! There were so many aspects of this anime that I loved. First, I can not get enough of the “undercover monster fighting its own kind” trope, especially in anime. Second, the show was hilarious, I was laughing sooooo much. The third but certainly not least was the amazing soundtrack!!!! I was completely shocked when I recognized both artists for the title and end-credit songs.

My only issue with this amazing show was the outfits, specifically the guy’s outfits. I wish they looked cooler/flattering. I’m not asking for a crazy fanservice-type outfit I just wish it didn’t make the guys look so rectangular. I think if it wasn’t a one-piece that would have been 100% times better. But besides that one problem, I would give this show a 9 out of 10.
