When I came across this book and saw that it was cyberpunk and vampires, I knew I had to read it. After finishing it, I was a tad disappointed, but it was still a pretty okay book. Besides the semi-repetitiveness of the story (main guy trying to talk to a person, to find answers, only to have to kill them without getting answers, then rinse and repeat), my biggest issue was my disappointment with what vampire features the main character had. Besides the blood drinking, I felt like they only included the boring traits of vampires. There were no cybernetic fangs or claws, don’t even get me started on the lack of heightened senses, and not a single bit of an aversion to sunlight. It was just plain old superstrength, being bulletproof, and healing (I’m good with the healing, but the others are boring to me). I love vampires in books, so this was one of those moments where I was left wondering why an author would not take the opportunity to make the character as awesome(vampirey) as they can. It’s just mindboggling to me, but despite this issue, I don’t think this is a bad book. Plus, I really liked that the villain was just a straight-up crazy lady. I love a complex villain as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s nice to have a bad guy where you can just say, “Yup, you’re crazy and wrong for doing that”. So overall, I would give this book a 6.5 out of 10.
