Before I get into the review, I wanted to share some things. First, I am and will probably always be a Marvel girlie over a DCU girlie, but I like all superhero stuff, so I have seen a majority of the DCEU. Second, I have disliked almost all of the DCEU. Sure, separately, I’ve been okay with each movie, mostly, but as a cinematic universe, it sucked. The third and final thing is that I have never been a Superman fan. I wanted to say all of this to give some background and to explain why it was crazy that I actually got pretty dang excited when I saw the first trailer for Superman.
That excitement was not diminished with the actual movie experience. I enjoyed the movie immensely! While I had no real issue with Man of Steel and Henry Cavill as Superman, I thought this iteration was 1,000,000 times better. I loved everything about it, the bright colors, happier tone, and best of all, David as Superman/Clark Kent. Henry was okay, but David was way better in every way! This movie has actually made me eager for the rest of the DCU, so I’m going to give it a 9 out of 10.
P.S. Unrelated to the review, I really, really, really hope they make Pattinson’s Batman canon in the DCU.(I know they probably won’t, but I just love the idea of his depressed Bruce interacting with David’s chipper Clark.)
