This show was FLAWLESS! Actually, that’s not true, there is one flaw and that flaw is that there isn’t enough! I need more and I need it now, well maybe not right now I would like it to last for a long long time. But seriously I absolutely loved the show. Before I talk more about The Sandman, I feel compelled to say that I haven’t read any of the comics. But now that that’s out of the way time to gush about Sandman!
So, when I first heard that this show was being made like a year or 2 ago(I can’t remember) I knew immediately that I would love it. Unlike other shows where I try to keep my expectations low, so I don’t get disappointed, this one they were astronomically high. And… NOT. A. SINGLE. EXPECTATION. WAS. CRUSHED. It was everything I wished for and more.
I don’t really feel the need to get into the beautiful special effects and the perfect cast so, I’m just going to talk about my 2 favorite parts of the show. The first is Dreams voice! Oh my gosh, it was perfect! It was like a deep raspy whisper and I enjoyed listening to every second Tom spoke. My second favorite part is also many many other peoples favorite. And that is the Hob Gadling half of The Sound of Her Wings episode. Of course I loved the whole episode but there was just something special about seeing Dream making a friend for life.
One thing that I also really liked that honestly surprised me was that the show had an almost anthology/slice-of-life feel to it. Now usually, I’m not a fan of anthologies but the way this show went about it was really enjoyable to me. My biggest wish for the show(besides it being renewed of course) is that there will me more slice-of-life episodes. Like, I just want to see Dream going about his daily life without any world altering events happening. I would be so amused the whole time.
Oh! I almost forget another thing that I absolutely adore about the show, which doesn’t even really deal with the actual show. That is Neil Gaiman’s defense of the show. As a fan of adaptions(who’s gotten used to being let down) having the creator not only be a huge part of the creation but also defend it is amazing.
So, as you might have guessed I give this show a 1000000000000000000 out of 10.
