Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Review

So I might get some hate for this review but I have to be honest. I thought this movie was good maybe even really good but I wouldn’t say it was great. That opinion would probably be different if I was more into Spider-Man than I am but sadly I would only consider myself a casual Spidey fan. I know there are a bunch of amazing things about this movie, like the animation(spectacular) and all of the characters but everyone and their mother knows about that so I don’t really feel the need to repeat something that everyone has already mentioned.

Now that being said I had a few issues with Across the Spider-Verse. The first one is actually something I’ve seen was a problem for other people too and that is, at certain points, I literally couldn’t hear what the characters were saying. Especially Hobie, for more than half his lines I couldn’t hear him let alone understand what he was saying. I’ve never wished a movie had subtitles more then with this movie. My other issue is definitely more controversial and that is there was too much going on, especially with all the different spider people. My attention was constantly getting pulled in 20 different directions. I kept switching back and forth from staring at the background to the main action and I feel like that was a lot for me. I almost felt like I got overstimulated from all of the Spider-Men/Women.

But even though I felt like the movie was a lot, I still mostly enjoyed it. The great animation and even better main characters are what made this movie good. So, all in all, I would give this movie a 7 out of 10.
