Silent Assassin Review and Thoughts

This is another one for the random movie I found on Amazon Prime, but this review is going to be slightly different because I only have a little bit to say about the actual movie, but I have more to say about an idea I have. For those who don’t know, this movie is based on the true story of a deaf-mute who becomes a deadly assassin during the feud between two rival families. Now that that’s out of the way, review time. Basically, the movie was kind of boring and confusing. There was a lot of downtime and it felt like they skipped important details and introductions. It felt like the movie was made for people who knew the entire story and everyone involved but didn’t even have a single thought about viewers who never heard the story. While there was a lot I wasn’t impressed with there was still a few moments I enjoyed so I’m going to give it a 5.5 out of 10.

Now that the review is out of the way, it’s time for the part I’m actually excited about. While I wasn’t a huge fan of the actual movie, I absolutely love the story behind it. And I think this story is perfect for a “loosely based on”, “dramatization”, or “inspired by” type of series. You know, something like Peaky Blinders or Billy the Kid(with Tom Blyth) the type of show that has a basis in fact but is mostly fiction. A show about Bastiano could be so amazing and cool to watch, and I can even see it being at least 3 seasons. The first season would mostly be about Bastiano’s childhood and then end right as the feud starts. Second season would, of course, be the whole feud with the drama, fights, action, and even romance. Now after the second season is where artistic liberty comes into play. If what the end of the movie says is true, that Bastiano’s body is never found(sorry spoiler), then there can be a whole season of him putting his past behind him but only to be pulled into some new unrelated drama wherever he decided to settle down. I could even see another season after that about his past coming back to haunt him. The possibilities are endless once you get to that point, and I really really really want to see this show.
