Silent Night(2023) Review

Welp, here’s another movie for the “movie I was excited for but was let down” pile. Last Christmas, I really enjoyed Violent Night, so I was hoping for another gory Christmas movie to enjoy but less magical, obviously. But I had too many issues with this movie to be happy with it. My main issue is that it was barely Christmasy at all. In the final fight, there were many opportunities to bring in the Christmas theme, but for some reason, they were ignored. Ignoring things caused even more problems in this movie. So many times there were decisions made that made no logical sense. Like almost everything in the hospital scene was clearly done because it looked cool and not how it’s actually done. For example, no one kept pressure on his wound, making sutures through gauze, and suctioning blood on the neck and not in the wound. There was even more lack of attention to detail throughout the entire movie and every time it took me out of the movie. I am usually good at the whole suspension of disbelief thing, but this one was just impossible for me.

In the whole movie, there was only one good and one semi-good thing. The semi-good thing was that it was interesting that there wasn’t any actual dialogue. That was unique so I kind of liked it. The good thing is all Joel Kinnaman’s acting, he was great enough to make me cry. But sadly that was enough to make the movie good so I would have to give it a 4 out of 10.
