I know this is going to be controversial, but I actually really liked this movie. Was it a perfect remake of the original… no. Would it have been a perfect new addition to The Crow series if they named them absolutely anything else besides Eric and Shelly… yes. Even still I liked the movie anyway. Normally I’m one of those people who get really disappointed by bad remakes but for some reason I’m different with The Crow. I was actually excited to see the new changes. I think the fact that I’ve seen 3 out of the 4 movies and the TV show(and enjoyed all of them) made me open to changes. Also, I just can’t help but think that a big chunk of the hate is coming from people who have no idea about the other movies and a show.
Now, all that being said there were a few things I would have liked to be different with this movie. First, I would have liked a little more clarity on how long their relationship was because it felt a tad too close to a whirlwind romance instead of a deep profound romance. Secondly, I would have liked to see more of Eric being a musician. These two issues were just little details I would have liked but they weren’t a big problem but there was one big issue I did have. I wasn’t a fan of Shelly coming back to life and Eric still being dead. It should have ended with them both happily moving on to heaven/afterlife together after the bad guys were punished. Because of that one big problem and the fact they should have just made them new characters instead of them being Eric and Shelly, I would give this movie an 8 out of 10.
