When I first picked this book out, I thought it was going to be like my other werewolf romances, but I was pleasantly surprised it was not. While it, of course, had magic and shifters, I would say the spice was what I would call “normal.” I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, so I will spoil the fact that there is no monster form sexy scenes and all that that entails *wink wink*. But where this book lacks in that sense, it definitely makes up for it with regular spice plus my favorite emotional spice! Call me a sucker, but I love a good emotional scene that makes me cry.
Besides the relationship building, I also love a good secret magical society hiding within the real world! The only thing that makes me sad is knowing that the rest of the series is focused on other characters, and I just want more of Mateo and Evie! Ignoring that sad note, I would give this book a 9 out of 10.
