First things first, Madame Web was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. That being said it still wasn’t good. While there were quite a few problems, the CGI being the least of them, one specific issue ruined it for me. This movie clearly showed me how important having a good villain is to a superhero movie. I could not handle the villain’s voice, there was something really off about it. The best way I could describe it is that it sounded like it was a dubbed-over AI voice. It never sounded like it was affected by the environment, if that makes sense. Plus, the fact that 90% of the movie you don’t see the villain actually talking, and the few moments you do it doesn’t look synced at all. Also, I didn’t notice this, but my sister even said she thinks the accent changes. Because of all of this, I could not stand hearing him talk, so I was never “afraid” of the villain I just wanted him to shut up.
Now, despite its many faults, there were a couple of moments that I did find funny, so it wasn’t a complete loss. I also don’t know if it’s a little sad or not that the best part about this movie was the Peter Parker Easter eggs. So, I would have to give this movie a 6 out of 10.
